yoga

I have been practising yoga for over 30 years. During this time I have been very fortunate to study with many excellent teachers. For more than 20 years I taught within the framework of BKS Iyengar as a qualified teacher. Iyengar yoga is characterised by a rigorous application of technique and clarity within posture and breath work. I have found that it provides safe practice guidelines for all abilities: Inspiration and challenge for when we are feeling strong and flexible; support for changing times in life or when we simply need some nourishing. I resigned from the Iyengar organisation several yers ago and i now call my classes "Biodynamic" to reflect my changing, more creative approach to bodywork as a practice of enquiry and enhancement of natural energy. My teaching is informed by my practice as a CranioSacral therapist and also by my longterm interest in feldenkrais and more recently, Continuum movement.   in class we practice a very wide range of movements utilizing intelligent sequencing and we use different techniques to explore our individual capacity.I am a recognised teacher with the BWY and have completed training in yoga for healthy lower backssKum Nye Tibetan yoga, Yoga Nidra, Embodied Yoga Principles and Vinyasa yoga. I teach embodied anatomy on the teacher training  at Falmouth Yoga space as well as workshops. I am excited to be offereing a 100 hour level 2 training in february 2018.

I believe that yoga can bring us to a place of increased self knowledge and awareness and acknowledge that the journey will be different for each individual but the outcome is the same, more choice, more personal leadership and better relationships with self, others and the world.. I respect this in my teaching.

I run regular classes in the Falmouth area and offer workshops, holidays and private tuition locally and nationally.

I am very excited about my new class YogaWomen which is aimed at women who want to take some time exploring nourishing practices for the body and spirit.  Moving deeper into the feminine we take our time to reflect and renew.  Most classes emphasise pelvic health and energy and shoulder and chest health using a sereies of movements based on classical yoga but also utilizing biodynamic principles. This class is particularly suitable if you are in recovery, stressed, in a time of change or  simply tired. we also practice YogaNidra.

I am the founder and organiser of SURYA eco yoga camps.
